1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how MinDent ("MinDent", the "App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the MinDent mobile application and the MinDent website.

MinDent is provided by Laszlo Fazekas, operating under the app publisher name "MinDent Apps" ("MinDent", the "App", "we", "us", or "our"). MinDent is a dental-care habit companion designed to help users manage cleaning routines, reminders, streaks, achievements, dentist appointments, toothbrush replacement tracking, and optional Pro features.

MinDent is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency dental care. Any information entered into the App is used for personal organization and habit tracking.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect or process the following categories of information:

  • Account information: such as your user ID, email address, sign-in provider, authentication status, and basic account details needed to create and manage your account.
  • App settings and preferences: such as selected language, cleaning frequency, cleaning duration, reminder settings, notification preferences, and onboarding status.
  • Cleaning routine data: such as cleaning progress, streak count, best streak, weekly overview, last cleaning date, cleaning counter, and related habit-tracking information.
  • Toothbrush tracking data: such as toothbrush type, toothbrush start date, replacement status, and related reminders.
  • Dentist appointment data: such as appointment date, time, dentist or doctor name, location, and notes that you choose to enter.
  • Achievement and progress data: such as unlocked achievements, progress status, and usage milestones.
  • Follow and sharing data: such as user IDs, followed users, shared public progress, streak information, weekly progress, and other limited information shown to users who follow you or whom you choose to follow.
  • Purchase and subscription data: such as product identifiers, subscription status, entitlement status, purchase history, renewal status, and related transaction information provided by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card details.
  • Device and technical data: such as device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, diagnostics, performance data, advertising identifiers where applicable, and general usage events.
  • Support communications: such as your email address and message content if you contact us for support.

Some data is stored locally on your device. Some data may be stored or processed using third-party services described below.

3. Sensitive Information

MinDent does not ask you to enter medical records. However, dentist appointment notes, locations, doctor names, or other information you choose to enter may reveal sensitive dental or health-related details. You should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information into the App.

Information you enter is used to provide the App’s features, such as reminders, appointment tracking, personal organization, and progress tracking.

4. How We Use Information

  • provide Pro features and subscription access;
  • show ads where applicable;
  • understand app usage and improve the App;

  • comply with legal, platform, and policy requirements.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another region with similar privacy laws, we process personal data based on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the App, account features, Pro features, subscriptions, and requested functionality.
  • Consent: where required for optional permissions, analytics, personalized advertising, notifications, or similar features.
  • Legitimate interests: to improve the App, maintain security, prevent misuse, understand basic usage, and fix technical issues.
  • Legal obligations: where we must comply with applicable law, tax, accounting, consumer protection, or platform requirements.

6. Camera Permission

The App may request camera permission only to enable QR code scanning in an optional feature. Camera access is used only when you actively open the QR code scanning feature.

Camera input is processed in real time to scan QR codes. The App does not record, store, upload, or share photos or videos from your camera.

The App remains usable without granting camera permission, except for features that require QR code scanning.

7. Notifications

MinDent may use local notifications and, where enabled, cloud messaging services to send reminders about cleaning routines, streaks, toothbrush replacement, appointments, app updates, or relevant app-related messages.

You can manage notification permissions at any time in your device settings and, where available, inside the App.

8. Subscriptions and Purchases

MinDent may offer paid Pro features through auto-renewable subscriptions or other in-app purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your device and platform.

We use RevenueCat to help manage subscription entitlement status, purchase history, product identifiers, and access to Pro features. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Subscription cancellation, renewal, refund, and billing management are handled through Apple or Google according to their respective terms and policies.

9. Advertising

The free version of MinDent may display ads using Google AdMob or similar advertising services. Advertising services may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers, approximate location, app interaction data, diagnostic data, and other technical information to provide, limit, measure, or personalize ads, depending on your region, consent choices, device settings, and platform rules.

Where legally required, we ask for consent before using personal data for personalized advertising or before accessing certain device identifiers or local storage for advertising purposes.

You can manage ad personalization through your device settings and any consent controls shown in the App. Pro users may have the option to remove ads.

10. Analytics and Crash Reporting

MinDent may use analytics and crash reporting tools, such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, to understand general app usage, diagnose crashes, improve performance, and fix bugs.

These services may process technical data such as app version, device model, operating system, interaction events, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance information. Analytics and crash data are used to improve app reliability and user experience.

11. Third-Party Services

MinDent may use the following third-party services to operate, improve, monetize, or support the App:

  • Firebase Authentication for sign-in and account authentication.
  • Firebase Firestore for storing user account data, private app data, and limited public/shared progress data.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging for app-related messaging and notifications where enabled.
  • Firebase Analytics for app usage analytics.
  • Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports and diagnostics.
  • Google AdMob for advertising.
  • RevenueCat for subscription and purchase entitlement management.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution, purchases, subscriptions, and billing.

These providers may process data according to their own privacy policies and data processing terms. You should review their policies for more information about how they handle data.

12. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share or make data available in the following limited situations:

  • with service providers that help operate the App, such as hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, advertising, and subscription management providers;
  • with Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Firebase, AdMob, and similar providers where necessary for app distribution, billing, ads, analytics, crash reporting, or technical operation;
  • with other users only where you choose to use sharing or follow features, and only for limited shared progress information shown by the App;
  • if required to comply with law, legal process, platform rules, or enforce our rights;
  • in connection with a business transfer, merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

13. Public and Shared Progress Data

If you use MinDent’s follow or sharing features, certain progress information may be visible to users who follow you or whom you connect with. This may include information such as display name or alias, streak count, weekly progress, or other limited habit-progress information.

We do not intentionally share private appointment notes, dentist details, or other private account data through public progress features unless the App clearly indicates otherwise and you choose to share it.

14. Data Retention

We keep personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, maintain your account, support subscriptions, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements.

Some locally stored data may remain on your device until you delete it, reset the App, uninstall the App, or clear app storage. Some backend data may remain until your account is deleted or until it is no longer needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Crash logs, analytics data, advertising data, and subscription records may be retained by third-party providers according to their own retention policies.

15. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your MinDent account and associated personal data by contacting us at the email address listed below. Where available, you may also delete your account from inside the App.

When we receive a valid deletion request, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account, unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, billing, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legitimate business reasons.

Deleting the App from your device does not necessarily delete backend account data or subscription records. You may also need to manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play.

16. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • delete your personal data;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • request a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • complain to a data protection authority.

You can also manage certain choices directly through your device settings, including camera permissions, notification permissions, advertising preferences, and app permissions.

17. Children’s Privacy

MinDent is not intentionally directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps, including deleting the information where required.

18. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the App against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

19. International Transfers

The services we use may process information in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, service-provider agreements, platform terms, or other lawful mechanisms for international data transfers.

20. Website Privacy

The MinDent website is used to provide information about the App, links to app store pages, and legal documents. The website may store your selected language preference locally on your device so that the correct language can be shown.

If we add optional analytics, advertising pixels, or similar tracking technologies to the website in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, request consent before using them.

21. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the App or on the website.

Your continued use of MinDent after a Privacy Policy update means that you acknowledge the updated policy.
